About the course

Through the medium of photography, students in Grade 12 may expand their grasp of visual narrative. Students will examine the fundamental concepts of design and visual culture in this course, as well as learn how to alter meaning through context and framing. Students will investigate numerous photography mediums and stages of the creative process, as well as topics like composition, lighting, audience, and perspective as they go through the course. By the end of the course you will:

Creating And Presenting

By the end of this course, students will:

  • Apply the creative process to create a variety of art works, individually and/or collaboratively;
  • Apply the elements and principles of design to create art works for the purpose of self-expression and to communicate ideas, information, and/or messages;
  • Produce artworks, using a variety of media/materials and traditional and emerging technologies, tools, and techniques, and demonstrate an understanding of a variety of ways of presenting their works and the works of others.
Reflecting, Responding, And Andanalysing

By the end of this course, students will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the critical analysis process by examining, interpreting, evaluating, and reflecting on various art works;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how artworks reflect the society in which they were created, and of how they can affect both social and personal values;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and analyze the requirements for a variety of opportunities related to visual arts.
Foundations

By the end of this course, students will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and use correct terminology when referring to, elements, principles, and other components related to visual arts;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of conventions and techniques used in the creation of visual art works;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of responsible practices related to visual arts.
